Halloween on a Budget

As Halloween quickly approaches, I have been noticing more and more things about Halloween on a budget. As a college student (and a bargain lover) budgeting and saving money are common practices in my daily life. For me, holidays like Halloween are no exception. I'm not just talking about how to make your own costume, but how to enjoy this holiday while still staying within budget in other areas. So grab some candy corn, sit back and read my tips (powered by Google) for enjoying Halloween on a budget.

1. Costume Budget
-Think about it, you will most likely only wear this costume once or maybe even twice and then never use it again. Because of this, I see no reason for purchasing a $50+ outfit. Get those creative juices flowing and make your own. Here are a few easy DIY costumes.

2. Nutrition Budget
-So we all know that Halloween is code for "candyfest". As one who is normally pretty health conscious when it comes to eating, knowing a little more about those fun size treats is always helpful. If you limit yourself to enjoying Halloween candy and other festive foods for one or two nights I wouldn't worry too much about it. (If you find yourself sneaking Reese's Pumpkins from now until January, that's a different story). Take a look at Hungry Girl's Halloween candy guide for more info.

3. Reputation Budget
-It's a common practice to adopt the "it's the one night a year a girl can look slutty and it's okay" mantra on Halloween, but I think it's ridiculous. Keep it classy ladies.
In case you are on the fence here are a few "sexy" costumes that should have never existed.

Now I'm off to put on my homemade Wilma Flintstone costume, eat 100 calorie servings of my favorite candy and enjoy a classy evening. Happy Halloween everyone!
